How Writing from the Heart Opens Up Your Intuition

by Jodi Levon

I love helping people find their own intuitive voice and their happiness!

My intuition has, aside from the Universe, always been my best friend. It’s helped me out of danger, into love, to new and exciting experiences and to my higher soul-self.

So when I experienced a series of losses, when they proved far more challenging for me than they ever had before, when I found myself falling, I did what I’ve always done to heal my heart: I leaned on my intuition.

And I wrote.

I thought back to all of the productive uplifting things I had learned from connecting with and doing readings on thousands of clients over the past several decades. I pulled the most life-affirming out into the light, then poured them onto paper. Eventually, the process morphed into a book about learning the language of intuition.

Next Time, I Will Take a Kinder Approach to My Writing Deadlines

Trying to figure out what not to include, staying organized, and properly editing for grammatical errors were the biggest roadblocks as far as writing The Happy Medium: Speaking the Language of Intuition.

There are so many interesting facets to tapping into our natural intuition I wanted to include everything I know but alas, I had to dial in and so I did, but not without some stress.

Understanding the language of intuition is not complicated but addressing some gigantic preconceived ideas about psychic intuition can be. My goal was to honor my writing voice while keeping the content as streamlined as possible.

In writing, less is more seems to be a good rule of thumb. Another challenge was time. I had given myself a specific deadline and though I met it, I now realize I didn’t need to do that to myself.

Next time, I will take a kinder approach.

Once I Let Go of Trying to Please, I Wrote from My Heart

It seems like people think those doing spiritual work are emotionally flawless and are born completely psychically in-tune.

No one is emotionally flawless and we grow more intuitive with experience.

My goal in writing The Happy Medium: Speaking the Language of Intuition was to demonstrate the truth in this without making it sound too edgy or mystic. The emotional challenge was that the feedback I received after the book was released was remarkable.

People wrote things like, their mother, who was dying of cancer, was comforted by reading the book, and my book “Changed their way of thinking and therefor their life.”

I was afraid my second book wouldn’t be as meaningful to people. Once I let go of trying to please, I wrote from my heart which prompted my intuition. It all worked. Letting go helps everything!

How I Knew I Was on the Right Path

As I wrote this book, I began to fully comprehend how significant it is for people to know that feeling good increases intuitive abilities.

All my childhood memories of being silly beyond reason took on an entirely new hue. I’ve always loved to laugh and have been a bit of a goofball. I inherently knew that it helped me but wasn’t always aware of how.

Feeling good is akin to feeling happy and when we are happy our intuition is essentially on fire. Being able to write about the partnership between happiness and intuition brought me such peace, I knew it was something my soul had planned for me and that I was delightfully on my path.

Every Book to Me is a Mystical Work of Art

I have always felt sort of raw and exposed when I write.

I began to once again feel the rhythm, beauty and benefit of my honesty while writing this book, but I also felt like I was in a tunnel.

Writing is such a process, and it’s easy to become lost in it. I learned patience and to dial-in. This may sound a bit strange but when I first sat down to write this book, I was filled with the memory of giving birth to my second-born-child.

I knew as I headed to the hospital that I was in for another challenging, beautiful and life-changing experience, one that I would cherish forever.

Every book to me is a mystical work of art. Not as cute as my children of course but pretty cool nonetheless.

Intuition Helps Us Do the Math

Life is filled with joy and filled with obstacles. There are numerous ways to move through them but some can feel complicated. When things don’t add up, intuition actually helps us do the math.

There is a language to intuition and it all rests on our ability to understand our feelings. The benefits are mind-blowing.

Most everyone has experienced deep loss. For instance, we miss our loved ones who have transitioned. Those in spirit who love us reach us through their love for us and the language of intuition.

Tapping into this natural resource makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is ignoring it.

Allowing Feelings to Flow Opens Up Creativity

Creative folks have more access to their insights because they work intentionally through the energy of inspiration. Highly creative people work more consciously through their souls.

Allowing our feelings to flow opens us up to our creativity. When we refuse to have our feelings, our imagination is blocked.

Through our writing we can help truly other people find emotional expression. In this way our words can heal.

We have important work as writers. We can love people with our words. Every word counts. By trade, writers are virtuosos with words.
